Stratford Teen, 14, Charged In Fatal Shooting In New York: Officials

The 14-year-old is accused of killing a man, and injuring another, in a daytime shooting at a park in New York last summer, officials said.

STRATFORD, CT — A 14-year-old Stratford resident has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in New York last summer.

One man was killed, and another was injured, in the daylight shooting at Doyle Park in Yonkers, New York in August 2024.

The teen was charged by indictment with second-degree murder, second-degree attempted murder, second-degree assault, and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced Thursday.

"The circumstances surrounding this case are tragic and disturbing," Cacace said. "When I took office, I made a commitment to address the scourge of gun violence that affects all of us in Westchester, but our cities most acutely. We will pursue every avenue available to keep guns off our streets and out of the hands of those who would misuse them. Daquan Glenn should be alive today, and we will work to provide his family, and the community, with a measure of justice."

Just after 5 p.m., on Aug. 26 of last year, the Yonkers Police Department received reports of shots fired at Doyle Park, on Ashburton Avenue.

The first officers on the scene found two men with gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken to area hospitals. One was pronounced dead, and the other remained in stable condition, according to police.

The 14-year-old is accused of shooting at the two victims at the park. Daquan Glenn, 29, sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including two gunshot wounds to the head. He was later pronounced dead at Saint Joseph's Medical Center.

The second victim was discovered a short distance away with a gunshot wound to the leg. He survived his injuries.

The teen is accused of aiding, abetting, and acting in concert with another person while committing the crimes.

Because of his age, the murder charge carries a maximum potential penalty of 15 years to life in state prison. The teen is due to appear in court again on Feb. 6.

In December, the defendant was charged in a felony complaint with attempted murder and attempted assault, among other charges, in connection with an unrelated incident that occurred one month prior to the Doyle Park shooting. That case remains pending.

The investigation into the Doyle Park shootings was conducted by the Yonkers Police Department and the FBI's Safe Streets Task Force.
