Suffield residents can keep their pup on the up-and-up with a visit to the town clerk's office.

June is dog licensing month throughout Connecticut. Suffield residents can visit the between Wednesday, June 1 and Thursday, June 30 to obtain or renew dog licenses.
To obtain a new license, residents need to bring a certificate from a veterinarian indicating if their pets are spayed or neutered along with up-to-date rabies vaccination information. The rabies certificate must be signed by a veterinarian, state the effective length of the vaccination and show that the vaccination is current.

Licenses cost $8 if the dog is spayed or neutered and $19 if the dog is not. While it won't break the bank for most residents, a late fee of $1 per month is assessed if dogs aren't registered in June.
The state requires all dogs, except those kept through a kennel license, to be licensed in the towns where they live. The dog license plan allows the state to maintain a current rabies database for all registered dogs.
