SUFFIELD, CT — Looking to cool off after a hot day at Six Flags? Or hoping to grab a refreshing treat before having to fork out a mortgage payment on snacks at the amusement park? Well, just before you hit the Massachusetts line on Route 159 north, take a gander to your right at Hilltop Farm. You'd never know it by a glance from the street, but awaiting you at the top of the hill is an oasis of cold concoctions.

Hilltop Creamery, which opened in 2022, is at the southwest corner of a sprawling circa 1914 dairy barn at the picturesque farm. The small yet exquisite shop regularly offers more than 20 flavors of cold refreshments, including ice cream (both hard and soft), frozen yogurt, sherbets and sorbets. Offerings normally include at least one non-dairy option, and a specialty not available in many shops is the "Pup Cup," tasty culinary cuisine for your canine consisting of a scoop of ice cream topped with a dog biscuit.

Patrons can take their treats to go, or may opt to enjoy them in the expansive outdoor seating area. Some family games may be played while on premises, and if you're there as the day is turning to night, you will marvel at the breathtaking sunset views to the west.
