Monday Night Storm Update from First Selectman Tom Frenaye
The first selectman provides information and updates to the town.

The emergency shelter at remains open and has more than 150 people staying for the night. If you plan to stay for the night, please bring sleeping bags and pillows. Hot showers are also available; you can drop in any time.
Several people have been taken to the hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning caused by portable generators. DO NOT run any generators inside your home – even in the basement or garage. Be sure not to operate generators near any building openings.
Our CL&P liaison arrived Monday afternoon, the expected tree clearing crew did some work on East Street South. CL&P has at least one crew designated for work in town on Tuesday, with the priority to clear wires and trees on roads that are blocked. Restoration of power will still likely take several more days, some may not be restored until early next week. Again, be very careful with downed power lines – do not attempt to clear them yourself.

The Suffield schools are closed at least through Wednesday. Town 0ffices will be open but some offices may offer limited services. The offices at 230C Mountain Road are not open (Parks & Rec., Building, Conservation, Town Planner). The temporary library at Town Hall is also unavailable.
Gasoline is in short supply, there was one station open in Feeding Hills much of Monday. It is possible that some in Enfield around Hazard Avenue will be open on Tuesday. Also look to Springfield. There is no shortage of gasoline, but there is a shortage of nearby gas stations with power.
