This worldwide educational event helps dispel myths about these misunderstood creatures. To learn about this event and about bats in general, Bat Conservation International is a great place to start. You'll find out how you can help support a healthy planet, learn how to build a bat house, protect bats and their environment, "adopt" a bat, learn about bat events and workshops and so much more.
4. In nearby Glastonbury, the Connecticut Audubon Society is holding a class about bats on Oct. 25. Kids between 1 and 5 years old are invited to learn what bats do in preparation for hibernation as well as where they hibernate. Attendees will also learn how bats became a part of Halloween. Visit the Glastonbury branch at the above link for registration information.
5. A program entitled will take place at the Lutz Children's Museum in Manchester on Tuesday. Kids between 2 and 5 years old, accompanied by a caregiver, are invited to learn about these winged wonders. Learn how bats are shy animals that help people by eating mosquitoes, pollinating flowers and dispersing seeds. The program will take place beginning at 1 p.m. in the nature center.
