SUFFIELD, CT — The Suffield Library has had many of the town's high school yearbooks digitized and available for viewing on the website archive.org. Inside the pages are wonderful memories of school days past, but also a look at some local businesses of the time.

In this periodic column, we revisit those local institutions which supported the students via yearbook advertisements. Today's offering was published 35 years ago, from the 1989 yearbook, Sagitta - an ad from Wickes Lumber.

Founded in 1854, Wickes was a national chain encompassing more than 600 retail stores. In Jan. 2004, the corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and ceased operation in 2007.
