SUFFIELD, CT — The Suffield Library has had many of the town's high school yearbooks digitized and available for viewing on the website archive.org. Inside the pages are wonderful memories of school days past, but also a look at some local businesses of the time.

In this periodic column, we revisit those local institutions which supported the students via yearbook advertisements. Today we delve into the pages of the 1977 yearbook, Sagitta, and a look at a longtime financial institution in the center of town: the First National Bank of Suffield.

Chartered in 1864, the bank serviced the financial needs of its customers for more than 150 years. It moved to the pictured location at 30 Bridge Street in 1968, becoming the first tenant in Suffield Village.

Eventually, the bank expanded by opening branch offices in West Suffield, East Granby and Windsor Locks. However, it was acquired by PeoplesBank of Massachusetts in Nov. 2018.

Here is a more contemporary look at 30 Bridge Street.
