Police Targeting ‘Dangerous’ Drivers That Pass Stopped School Buses In Suffield

SUFFIELD, CT — A driver that went past a stopped school bus Thursday morning in Suffield is facing a $475 ticket, according to police.
Suffield police are again reminding motorists to not pass stopped school buses with their red lights activated and stop signs deployed.
Police said officers are out looking for violators daily.

“We sent out a reminder at the beginning of the school year regarding STOPPING for school buses in the roadway with their flashing red lights and stop signs deployed,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “We have received several complaints lately regarding people driving by school buses stopped while picking up or dropping off kids. This is DANGEROUS!
“The most recent incident occurred on Mapleton Ave this morning. If we identify the individuals responsible for disregarding a stopped school bus they will be receiving a ticket for $475.

“Please contact the Suffield PD in any case where you observe someone disregard the stopped school bus and we will respond and attempt to locate the driver. Our Officers are out and looking for these violations on a daily basis. Do not pass stopped school buses!”
