'Very Serious' Crash Shuts Down Route 159 In Suffield, Police Say
Police said Route 159 remains closed Thursday evening from Boston Neck Road to Bridge Street while investigators work at the scene.
SUFFIELD, CT — A serious head-on crash closed Route 159 on Thursday afternoon, according to a release from the Suffield Police Department.
Police say they responded around 1:45 p.m. to the area of 367 East Street South for a two-vehicle crash involving a sedan and a Sprinter-style van. According to officers, the sedan crossed over the double yellow line and struck the van head-on.
The driver of the sedan suffered "very serious" injuries and was taken by ambulance to Baystate Hospital, police said. The driver and passenger of the van reported only minor injuries and were not transported from the scene.

Suffield Fire Department and the Suffield Volunteer Ambulance Association also responded. The North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad (NCMARS) is now leading the investigation, authorities say.
Police said Route 159 remains closed Thursday evening from Boston Neck Road to Bridge Street while investigators work at the scene, and drivers are urged to use alternate routes until further notice.
