Suffield Ambulance Chief Named VP of Statewide EMS Group
Art Groux will help lead the newly organized Connecticut EMS Chiefs' Association.

(SVAA) Chief Art Groux was recently elected the vice president of the Connecticut EMS Chiefs’ Association.He is one of six officers of the new, non-profit trade association representing emergency medical response leaders throughout the state.
Groux will bring skills and experience developed in Suffield, Enfield, New York City and Jerusalem to the association. Groux, who earned his emergency medical services management degree at Springfield College, leads approximately 80 volunteers who provide an average of 2,500 service hours to the town each month, according to the SVAA website.
The Connecticut EMS Chiefs’ Association aims to promote and improve the quality of emergency medical services in the state, perform research and promote legislation, according to a press release from the group.

“The association fills a significant gap by providing participating chief officers with an opportunity for networking [and] professional development as well as active participation in developing and supporting legislation to enhance the future needs of the state’s community-based EMS systems,” said Connecticut EMS Chiefs’ Association president Bruce Baxter.

Service providers in towns represented by the group, including Suffield, Greenwich, Stamford and New Britain, provide emergency response and care for more than 500,000 patients each year, according to the release.
