Suffield Little League News: Volunteers Needed, Board Members Announced And More

The Suffield Little League elected new board members at its annual membership meeting on Sept. 29, thanked retiring members for their service, put out a call for volunteers and announced the dates for spring baseball and softball registration.

The board currently needs volunteers for positions including league coordinator, communications director, all-star site director, fundraising assistants, home run derby coordinator, photo coordinator and field maintenance assistants.

“If you could spare some time to help improve our children’s program, we would gladly welcome your help,” said Chip Dyer, new Suffield Little League president. “Please contact us or drop by the next board meeting.”

The league also needs volunteers to help with the fall cleanup of Christian Field on Nov. 12.

“We need people with carpentry skills, ‘yard-work’ skills like light raking and wheel-barrow work and generally just some helping hands,” Dyer said. “Nothing too strenuous, but the more help we have the easier it will be for everybody.”

The board holds a regular meeting on the second Wednesday of each month, anyone and everyone interested in participating is invited to attend.

Online registration for spring baseball and softball begins Jan. 9. The spring leagues are open to boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 14.

Past President - John Kulas (former acting president and information officer)

Baseball Vice-President - Wayne Lancioni

Secretary - Jim Danise

Safety Officer - Roxann Mankouski

Fund Raising Coordinator - Franco Frare

Maintenance Director - George Krar

Outgoing members Jean Tomasko, food booth coordinator and sponsorship coordinator, and Carol Bennett, softball vice-president and player agent, were thanked by the board for their years of service.
