Suffield Police Hold Drug Take Back Day
Suffield Police will collect unwanted prescription drugs at the CVS Pharmacy parking lot on Saturday April 29, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

From Suffield Police: As part of the 13th annual National Drug Take-Back Day, the Suffield Police and the US Drug Enforcement Administration will be partnering with CVS Pharmacy to collect all unwanted, expired, and unused prescription drugs and medicines in the parking lot of CVS Pharmacy located at 163 Mountain Road Suffield.
This free and anonymous service is provided to address the public safety and public health issue related to diversion, misuse, and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. In addition, Americans are now advised that their traditional methods for disposing unused medications - flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash – are now known to pose health and safety hazards to people and to our environment.
Last September, Americans turned in over 447 tons of prescription drugs at more than 5,000 sites operated by the DEA and more than 3,800 of its state and local law enforcement partners.
