Suffield Volunteer Ambulance Recognizes Emergency Volunteers
Dispatcher Nick Fasano has been awarded the Hero Award for going above and beyond in his efforts for voluntary medical services.
From Suffield EMS: On Saturday April 1 st, the Members of the Suffield Volunteer Ambulance along with invited members of the community gathered at Crestview Country Club to recognize the accomplishments of members of the Association and the Emergency Response Community during 2016. Here are the highlights of awards. Life Time Achievement Award was given to Vic Mathieu. Vic has been a valued member of the Ambulance for many years. he contributes a life time of effort to the Association every year and we are grateful for all his efforts.
The Hero Award goes to a member of the community who stepped up during the year to go above and beyond in efforts to assist another in a medical emergency. Dispatcher Nick Fasano was the recipient of this award for his extraordinary efforts to identify an injured person from nothing more than a name given by a caller from 3000 miles away.
Explorer of the Year was awarded to Amy Colson. Amy has quickly picked up the skills needed to be an integral part of the organization all while balancing the work of a busy High School student.

The greatest number of hours’ award for In Town Member went to Vic Mathieu who was scheduled for over 2400 hours in 2016.
The greatest number of hours’ award for Out of Town Members went to Laura Steinmeyer who was scheduled for over 1800 hours in 2016

The Board of Director recognize a member for their commitment to the ambulance over the year and furthering the efforts of the ambulance both within the organization and in the community, that award went to Laura Steinmeyer
The Perrault Award, named in honor of Raymond and Ina Perrault, is given to a member who demonstrates service beyond the ordinary to include extraordinary volunteerism. The 2016 award winner was Laura Steinmeyer
The Zak Award, named in honor of Amiel and Maryann Zak, is given to member(s) who demonstrate service to the public beyond ordinary both within the organization but also within the community. The 2016 Award winners were; Kathy Dunai and Don Miner.
Suffield Volunteer Ambulance is non-profit corporation serving the EMS needs for the Town of Suffield. Each year over 90 volunteers respond to more the than 1600 requests for service with in excess of 27,000 of volunteer labor during 2016.
