Town Meeting On Fund Transfer, Land Donation Set For Thursday

Qualified Suffield residents can vote on a donation of 4.75 acres of land of Bennett Road and the transfer of more than $175,000 for the installation of a fire pump at Suffield High School.

Qualified voters in Suffield will have the opportunity to discuss and vote on two town-related issues at a town meeting in 's auditorium set for Thursday at 7 p.m.

Meeting attendees will vote on a resolution to transfer $175,942 from the Town Hall heating, ventilation and air conditioning fund to the Suffield High School vocational agricultural building fire pump fund.

The additional funding, approved by the Boards of Finance and Selectmen, is needed to install a fire pump that will bring the new vocational agricultural building and the high school to acceptable water pressure levels. The fire pump is needed due to increased usage on the water main connected to the high school and the construction of the new vocational agricultural building.

Town residents will also vote on whether to accept a land donation. Suffield Associates has offered to donate about 4.75 acres of land to the town. The land is zoned for light industrial use and located off of Bennett Road.
