Town Resident is CT Veterinarian of the Year

Dr. Peter Conserva was named veterinarian of the year by the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association on March 27.

A Suffield resident has been honored by the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) as Connecticut's veterinarian of the year.

Dr. Peter Conserva, who has lived and practiced in West Suffield since 1974, is involved with veterinary medicine statewide. He serves as both the large animal coordinator and chief instructor of the Connecticut State Animal Response Team (CTSART)

CTSART deals with serious emergencies involving animals in coordination with local and state government.

Since 2005 Conserva has given lectures and hands-on training for first responders on large animal rescue. He has taught at the Connecticut and Fairfield Fire Academies and recently spoke with the Woodbridge Volunteer Fire Department about safety for both responders and animals in emergencies.

Conserva shares his Ratley Road horse farm, Peter Brook, with his wife Darlene. In addition to his service with CTSART, he has also served as on the CVMA's executive board as treasurer for 18 years.
