Find out how Suffield is responding to the emergency situation caused by the storm.

The emergency shelter at remains open. If you plan to stay for the night, please bring sleeping bags and pillows. Hot showers are also available; you can drop in any time.

Several people have been taken to the hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning cause by portable generators. DO NOT run any generators inside your home – even in the basement or garage. Be sure not to operate generators near any building openings.

Almost everyone in Suffield is still without power (97 percent are out). CL&P did some debris and wire clearing overnight, particularly on Phelps Road. They are working today on Mapleton Avenue, North and Russell Streets. CL&P has still not given the town an official estimate of when 99 percent of power will be restored, though a few homes may be back on-line later today. Significant restoration of power will still likely take several more days, some may not be restored until early next week. Again, be very careful with downed power lines – do not attempt to clear them yourself.
