Tuesday Morning Storm Aftermath Info

We're looking to find what's open in Suffield and the surrounding area.

As of 11 a.m., 97 percent of Suffield is without power. Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) "expect[s] to have restoration estimates available for all towns" by Wednesday morning.

CL&P tree and line crews are at work today in Suffield, according to First Selectman Tom Frenaye.

East Windsor has gas stations open with gas for sale, including the Bridge Street Shell station (172 Bridge Street). This station is only about five minutes from the southern border of Suffield. Travel southward on Suffield Street into Windsor Locks and make a left to go over the Windsor Locks/East Windsor bridge. The Shell station is a few minutes up the road, on the left.

Many stations in Springfield and West Springfield are open as well. But expect lines and delays when fueling anywhere in the area. More information on open gas stations will be available later today after some reconnaisance.

The shelter at is open and Highland Park Market, CVS and the main branch of the First National Bank of Suffield, on Bridge Street, were all open yesterday. Can you share information about these locations being open today? Tell us in the comments.

The Big Y in Enfield (65 Palomba Drive) and the East Windsor Geissler's Supermarket (100 Bridge Street) are also open today. Parts of Westfield and Agawam, Mass. have power as well. More information on those locations will be available later today.

Repeating a warning from the first selectman: "Several people have been taken to the hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning caused by portable generators. DO NOT run any generators inside your home – even in the basement or garage. Be sure not to operate generators near any building openings."
