2 Dead, 2 Injured In Haddam Head-On Crash: Police

A wrong-way crash Tuesday afternoon left two people dead and hospitalized two others, state police said.

HADDAM, CT — Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a head-on, wrong way crash in Haddam on Tuesday, according to state police.

A 2022 Ford E350 was traveling in the left lane of the Route 82 connector at the intersection with Route 154 at 2:39 p.m.

Patricia Tucker, 82, of New Haven was driving a 2007 Toyota Highlander eastbound in the westbound lanes and struck the Ford head-on, according to state police.

The Ford's driver was taken to Middlesex Hospital for suspected serious injuries. The passenger in the Ford was transported by Lifestar helicopter to Hartford Hospital for serious injuries.

Both people in the Toyota died in the accident. Tucker was transported by Lifestar helicopter to Hartford Hospital but was pronounced dead at the hospital. Berthina McNair, 83, of East Haven, was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.
