• Haddam Business Owner Charged In Workers' Compensation Case, Prosecutors Say (patch.com) — A Haddam business owner has been charged with failing to carry required workers’ compensation insurance for employees, after a worker was seriously injured on a job in 2021. State officials say more than $85,000 in benefits were paid from the Second Injury Fund. The owner was released on bond and is due in Middletown court in January. 
• Historic CT Home From 1730s Destroyed in Fire That Killed Dog, Triggered Explosions (dailyvoice.com) — A historic 1730s home on Middlefield Road in Haddam was destroyed by a fast-moving fire Friday that also killed a family dog and caused several explosions from a basement battery system. Haddam firefighters arrived to find the house fully engulfed and tried to rescue the trapped animal, but officials say the Ithamar Parsons House is now a total loss.
