At a special meeting Monday night, the East Haddam Free Public Library Board of Directors approved two ordinances that bring the library another step closer to a merger with Rathbun Free Memorial Library.
One ordinance approved the recommendation for the merger of the two libraries into one system. The second, approved the town taking over the library building."
"This is awesome," said Michael Gilroy, Library Director. "This is a wonderful and historic opportunity. I'm happy to hear we are supporting this concept."
The ordinances now head to the Board of Selectmen for approval. Should the merger come to pass, the libraries systems would merge into one unified system headed by a single director and 9 trustees.
