- The Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. To celebrate they have had a special t-shirt designed to promote this event. Today the shirts will be on sale at the transfer station from 8 a.m. - noon. T-shirts will be $20 cash for all sizes. - Being inclusive and sensitive, on Sunday, August 28 at 6:30 p.m. the Goodspeed Opera House will be offering a special Sensory-Friendly Performance of Anne of Green Gables. According to a Facebook post from the Goodspeed, this family-friendly performance is designed and intended for those who are on the autism spectrum or who have other sensory issues. At the performance, the theatre environment will be altered, providing a safe, friendly, comfortable and judgment-free zone that is welcoming for all. According to an article written by Samuel Stebbins for 24/7 Wall St. Hartford, "According to data from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, there were 430 federally licensed dealers or pawn brokers of firearms in Connecticut as of January or 12.0 for every 100,000 people – the ninth fewest among states. FBI firearm background check data, which is a close proxy for firearm sales, shows that an estimated 126,268 guns were sold in Connecticut in the first half of 2022, or 3,536 for every 100,000 people, the 17th fewest among states."
