  1. West Haven officials are reexamining the city's curfew ordinance due to an increase in juvenile crime. Officials are considering enforcing the curfew and are questioning if it should be earlier. Recent incidents include vandalism and harassment, with residents now questioning their safety. The current ordinance prohibits unaccompanied minors from being out between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. This topic will be discussed at the next town council meeting on July 24. (Eyewitness News 3)
  2. The Community Foundation of Greater New Haven, a new grant program, was awarded $7.2 million for the New Haven Equitable Entrepreneurial Ecosystem, which will give 175 new businesses new opportunities in the community within the next five years. The average grant will be roughly $6,000 and will help with new startups as well as training, mentorship, and marketing. To find out more about the program, click here. (NBC Connecticut)
  3. Several citizens in Guilford have expressed worry over potential changes to the city's zoning restrictions in recent months. A few concerns are about the limitations on the size of big-box developments in the Post Road Business and Business Mixed Use zones along the length of Route 1, as well as the effects on traffic and the environment. A public hearing is scheduled for Jul. 19 at the Nathanael B. Greene Community Center. (CT Examiner)
