Here are the top stories in The Haddams-Killingworth today:

  1. The Lower Connecticut River Valley, RiverCOG is comprised of 17 towns including; Chester, Clinton, Cromwell, Deep River, Durham, East Haddam, East Hampton, Essex, Haddam, Killingworth, Lyme, Middlefield, Middletown, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, Portland and Westbrook. According to a Hartford Courant article the RiverCog is currently working on, "a new regional plan for diversifying the housing stock in the lower Connecticut River Valley. The plan includes establishing a housing commission, studying the feasibility of transit-oriented development, and the creation of an online resource with more information about affordable housing. Read the draft plan here." (Hartford Courant)
  2. According to a Facebook post by the Haddam Historical Society and the Thankful Arnold House Museum, "the Haddam Historical Society has received a very exciting donation, the Middlesex County Temporary Home 1883-1955, by Cheryl and Christopher Klemmer. The couple has been researching Connecticut’s County Homes for sometime and have published works on Windham, Tolland, Hartford, Litchfield and New London. The Middlesex book not only includes a comprehensive history but also lists residents of the home and has a great resource list. This is a very important addition to the Society's collections and library. Thank you Cheryl & Christopher. (Haddam Historical Society-Thankful Arnold House Museum via Facebook)
  3. Reportedly, Connecticut Water has requested that water be conserved in the towns of Clinton, Guilford, Madison, Old Saybrook and Westbrook. Is the Haddams-Killingworth area next? Please be mindful of over use of water during this period of little rain. (Eyewitness News 3)
