  1. Need a haircut? You are in luck! The Youth and Family Services of Haddam-Killingworth will be holding the Fourth Annual Free Haircut event on Sunday August 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Haddam Volunteer Fire Department on Saybrook Road.   2. It has been announced that Tyree Hughey has been named the new executive director of the Haddam-Killingworth Youth and Family Services. "Hughey's official start date was August 8. He grew up locally and played football at Xavier High School and at Villanova University, where he earned his BS in health services before returning to Connecticut and earning his master’s in social work from the University of Connecticut. One of his first official roles as executive director will be to help the Board hire a new prevention coordinator and clinical coordinator, "according to an HK Now article. (HK Now)
  3. More than 1,700 of Connecticut's hospitality sector businesses can expect to receive their cut of $30 million in COVID-19 relief grants beginning this week. According to a Patch article written by Rich Kirby, "restaurants, hotels, entertainment venues, breweries, wineries, travel services, transportation services and other such businesses can anticipate receiving checks ranging in amounts from $7,500 to $49,999. The funding is part of the Connecticut Hospitality Industry Support Program, sourced through the federal government's American Rescue Plan Act." (Patch)
