  1. The Middlesex Community College Foundation announced its Scholarship Awards. According to a press release, Kaitlin Hall, a criminology studies major from Killingworth, received the Elizabeth R. Wagner Scholarship, a new award established for a non-traditional student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who is pursuing a law enforcement career. The recipient also must be a Connecticut resident and U.S. citizen. (Press Release Desk)
  2. Branford-based Stony Creek Brewery and Save the Sound have collaborated to create a new beer that supports the mission of Save the Sound, a regional non-profit. In an effort to give back and preserve what makes Connecticut so special, with every purchase of “Save the Sound Light Lager,” the brewery will donate a portion of the proceeds to Save the Sound.   4. Connecticut schools will soon be required to teach climate change as a part of the science curriculum. It will be required by state law beginning in July 2023. The state will be implementing the Next Generation Science Standards, which is a national standard that includes teaching on climate change. Through this curriculum, students reportedly will gradually build an understanding of the environment they live in and eventually discuss climate change and solutions. (The Connecticut Mirror)
