- Parents take note: The 2022 Connecticut Child Tax Rebate is now open. The rebate reportedly provides taxpayers with a state tax rebate of up to $250 per child for a maximum of three children. Any Connecticut resident who claimed at least one dependent child 18 years old or younger on their 2021 federal income tax return may be eligible. Anyone interested in seeking a rebate must apply to the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services. The application period will close on July 31. This timeline will enable qualified recipients to receive funds beginning in late August. (Ivoryton Library Association via Facebook )
- Whether you're actively in the market for a new home or just looking into other properties nearby, you can start your search with four of the newest listings in and near The Haddams-Killingworth area. - According to an article in the Harbor News, "the town of Old Saybrook has received a special exception application, filed by Fine Fettle Dispensary, to open a cannabis dispensary at 233 Boston Post Road." The article states, "Last month the Zoning Commission (ZC) passed new regulations that effectively banned retail marijuana stores everywhere except for the B-4 district as well as restricted it to businesses that received approval from the town before January 2022. Only two businesses received such approval, one being Fine Fettle. Old Saybrook land-use officials said that because the application is a special exception, it would require a public hearing. The tentative schedule is for the application to go before the Architectural Review Board on Wednesday, June 22, the Planning Commission on Wednesday, July 6, and the ZC on Monday, July 18."
