- Today is the longest day of the year and to celebrate this fantastic event, there will be a Solstice Ceremony with Vedaji and Mark Zarrillo at Hammonassett State Park Hammonasset Beach from 6-8 p.m. this evening. Mark Zarrrillo has offered drum circles since 2005 and Vedaji a Yogi born in India, who lived in a monastery in India since age five for over 20 years and now resides in Atlanta, will combine their unique energies to create a ceremony to honor the Summer Solstice. This event will take place behind Meigs Point Nature Center. Please bring a chair, yoga mat or blanket and your drums if you have them. In the case of rain, the ceremony will be held at The Red Barn in Durham. (Facebook)
