Motorcyclist Killed In East Haddam Crash: CT State Police
The two-vehicle crash occurred on East Haddam Colchester Turnpike, according to authorities.
EAST HADDAM, CT — A 63-year-old Madison was killed Wednesday afternoon when the motorcycle he was operating collided with a pickup truck on East Haddam Colchester Turnpike in East Haddam, according to Connecticut State Police.
Stephen J. Nichols was thrown from his BMW motorcycle in the 4:30 p.m. crash, and was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said in a statement. No other injuries were reported.
Nichols had been traveling westbound on East Haddam Colchester Turnpike when the crash occurred. According to state police, a Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 51-year-old East Haddam man, was traveling south on Starr Road and was entering the "T" intersection with Olmstead Road.

As the truck driver tried to turn left onto Olmstead Road, he "drove into the path of travel" of Nichols' motorcycle, which then collided with the left front quarter panel of the pickup truck.
No charges have been filed in connection with the crash, which remains under investigation by state police.
