Here are the top three stories in The Haddams-Killingworth today:
- State Senator Norman Needleman has received unanimous support for re-election to a third term representing the 33rd District. He is also the First Selectman of the town of Essex and Senate chairman of the Energy & Technology Committee. During his tenure as a Connecticut State Senator, he has reportedly led efforts to provide strong oversight of Connecticut’s utility companies. According to a press release, he seeks to continue a track record of consumer advocacy and “common-sense” legislation in the legislature. (CT Insider).
- Unanimously endorsed by delegates from all four of the towns she represents, (Chester, Deep River, Essex and Haddam), State Representative Christine Palm D-36th is ready for re-election. She has been representing her district in the General Assembly since 2018. She is also reportedly vice chairwoman of the Legislature’s Environment Committee, chairwoman of the Internship Committee, and is an assistant majority leader. Her impressive resume also includes her work to secure funding for local schools, successfully gaining bonding for capital improvement projects, championing two environmental bills, securing $300,000 to create the Office of Aquatic Invasive Species and working on a bill to require the teaching of climate change in all Connecticut public schools. - The Connecticut Better Business Bureau (BBB) is warning residents about a scam involving Norton LifeLock Inc. and the CT BBB. The scammers are emailing victims claiming to be from Norton LifeLock Inc. and sending out letters that appeared to be from a Connecticut BBB address, signed by the CEO. The BBB is asking that residents be on high alert and exercise caution if they are suspicious. (HamletHub)
