From my notebook:

  • Connecticut Draft Horse Rescue: "Top five reasons to become a volunteer at CDRH (1) Even though it's hard work, a horse always insists on helping you with shift chores. (Carol with Tinker) (2) It's a great workout! (3) You meet wonderful, funny, caring people and form new friendships. (4) It's good for your emotional, physical, and mental health. It is scientifically proven that spending time with animals helps lower stress and blood pressure levels. (5) and this reason is hard to put into words...but there is something so deeply moving when you see a broken draft horse come to the rescue, and through countless hours of love and care, you witness that broken horse blossom and find their forever home—knowing you played an important role on that journey. That is the gooey goodness that we all feel as volunteers at CDHR." (Connecticut Draft Horse Rescue via Facebook)
  • Goodspeed Musicals: "It's time to meet more dancing feet! The 42nd Street Ensemble includes Willie Clyde Beaton II, Sarah Dearstyne, Berklea Going, Candice Hatakeyama, Danielle Jackman, Edward Juvier, Taylor Lane, Brian Shimasaki Liebson, Brady Miller, Christian Probst and Christopher Shin. The Swings are Kirsty Fuller and Derek Luscutoff. The show "42nd Street" dances onto the Goodspeed stage starting Sept 16. Don't miss it!" (Goodspeed Musicals via Facebook)
  • Haddam-Killingworth Recreation Department: "Explorers Camp went head to head on the race track at Berlin Batting Cages today. They certainly had a lot of fun." (Haddam-Killingworth Recreation Department via Facebook)
