- According to a Facebook post, "The Thankful Arnold House Museum and Haddam Historical Society are thrilled to be part of the CT Summer at the Museum program which runs from July 1, to September 5, and allows Connecticut children aged 18 and under – plus one accompanying Connecticut adult free admission! The museum is open on Wednesdays 9-3, Thursdays 2-8, Fridays 12-3 and Sundays 1-4 and is located at 14 Hayden Hill Road, Haddam, CT." - Connecticut legalized adult-use cannabis a full year ago, but the state hasn't seen a penny of tax dollars from sales of recreational marijuana. However, according to a Middletown Press article, "it has been predicted that by the end of the 2020s, direct and indirect revenue generated from cannabis sales and associated revenues could push over a billion dollars while creating hundreds of jobs in the industry and hundreds of millions in new tax revenue annually, once the rollout evolves into a mature market. “Over the next six months, the department will continue to review and approve medical marijuana preservation plans and provisional license applications, as well as conduct additional lottery rounds,” said Michelle Seagull, commissioner of the state Department of Consumer Protection. The Connecticut Center for Economic Analysis at UConn found in a 2020 study that even measured conservatively, adult-use retail sales will mean increased business growth and “significant” creation of new jobs, especially if the state can beat New York and Rhode Island to open its marketplace." (Middletown Press)
- Connecticut will not initially be receiving any doses of the monkeypox vaccine. According to a New Haven Register article, "the lack of vaccine dosages locally was “based on the number of monkeypox cases and the at-risk population in each state,” DPH spokesman Chris Boyle said. “The Connecticut Department of Public Health was notified Wednesday afternoon by CDC that Connecticut will not be receiving an initial allocation of Jynneos doses as a part of the first phase of the recently released whole of government National Monkeypox Vaccination Strategy to reduce transmission,” Boyle said Thursday. “Instead, DPH can request doses for the vaccination of identified close contacts of cases.”' (New Haven Register)
