Here are the top three stories today in The Haddams-Killingworth:
- Kicking off the summer on Saturday, June 25 with a life-sized CandyLand under a tent in the Killingworth Library's backyard, everyone is invited to come and have some fun. There will be games, prizes, books and of course candy. Don't miss out on this fun family event. Hope to see you there!" (Killingworth Library Association via Facebook)
- Plan ahead this summer if you are traveling in the town of East Haddam over the bring on Route 151 over Shady Brook. Construction to replace the bridge is underway, which consists of removal and replacement of existing culvert substructures. There will reportedly be detours both north and southbound, lane closures and delays. Be prepared and plan accordingly. (East Haddam Land Trust via Facebook)
- It was a picture-perfect almost summer day in the Nutmeg State Saturday and residents were out in droves enjoying the beautiful weather as well as the public parks throughout the state. So much so that several area parks had to close to visitors because they were at full capacity. Reportedly, around 4:15 p.m., Wadsworth Falls State Park in Middletown had to close because its parking lot was full to capacity, according to a state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Tweet and around 3:15 p.m., Gillette Castle State Park in East Haddam reported it was sold out for the day for tours of the castle, DEEP said, also stating the park was still open until sunset.
