Work Begins On Haddam/East Haddam Swing Bridge

​The 110-year-old bridge will be updated​ with new equipment along with structural repairs and a new sidewalk.

HADDAM, CT — Work is set to begin on the Haddam/East Haddam Swing Bridge, according to a statement from the town. This week, crews began clearing the site and initial staging for the installation of a new retaining wall on the east side of Route 82.

The bridge is experiencing intermittent mechanical failures. Engineers were on-site troubleshooting the issue. The town said that until this issue is resolved, the bridge may not be able to swing for marine traffic passage.
