If you've been looking to add a fluffy ball of four-legged love and affection to your life, look no further than these animal shelters in and around The Haddams-Killingworth for a pet to take home. About 6.5 million pets and other companion animals are surrendered to shelters each year nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, approximately 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.(The Haddams-Killingworth Patch)
  2. Yale New Haven gets the first mobile mammography unit in the country to be equipped with both 3D mammography and ultrasound screenings. According to Eyewitness News 3, "the new mobile mammography unit is to celebrate Yale New Haven Health's 35 years of saving lives. While this is the hospital’s latest addition, the mission of extending critical care services into its communities started 35 years ago this month. Five days a week, staffers with the mobile unit provide mammograms and breast ultrasound images at local community clinics, shopping plazas and businesses. They provide key preventative screenings in about an hour." (Eyewitness News 3)
