Here are the top three stories in The Haddams-Killingworth today:
- On Monday, a 17-year-old reportedly fell from a cliff at Gillette Castle State Park, in East Haddam. The young man was transported to Connecticut Children's Medical Center with facial injuries. The NBC Connecticut news article states that the male is in stable condition, according to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. DEEP, the East Haddam Fire Department, as well as the East Hampton and Chester Fire Departments all responded to the scene. The incident is currently under investigation. (NBC Connecticut)
- Offering up a new program that provides flexibility Chelsea Groton Bank announces its new Peak Time Career Opportunities. Peak time employees would work during peak hours and a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 19 hours per week. It is designed to support individuals looking to start or remain in a professional career while balancing the demands of one's personal life the program has a flexible component, with the hopes of enticing and retaining workers who may otherswise not be able to work. - According to a Facebook post on the Essex Library's page, "under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, Connecticut has been awarded approximately $123 million to establish MyHomeCT, a program funded by the Homeowner Assistance Fund. The goal of MyHomeCT is to cure mortgage delinquencies and defaults and prevent foreclosures among eligible homeowners that occurred as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program also includes assistance for qualified non-mortgage expenses including, but not limited to, non-escrowed real estate taxes and insurance as well as condominium or homeowners' association fees."
