Boardwalk Back In Business

The boardwalk is ready for Easter weekend walkers.

East Lyme — Residents can now enjoy a Sunday stroll along the Niantic Bay Boardwalk.

The town's walkway officially opened up on Wednesday afternoon, according to The Day. The half-mile stretch of walkway by Niantic Bay has been under construction since 2014, The Day reports.

The old pathway suffered storm damage and was in need of extensive repairs.

The new steel and concrete path can endure the harsh New England weather, First Selectman Mark Nickerson told The Day.

The reopening, which also opens access to Hole-in-the-Wall-Beach, comes just in time for the spring weather warm up expected for today, tomorrow and Easter Sunday.
