Early Dismissals, Cancellations, and Parking Bans
East Lyme and Lyme-Old Lyme School Districts have canceled all after school and evening events. East Lyme after school child care ends today at 5 p.m. Old Lyme implements a parking ban at 4 p.m. today.
The following organizations have announced weather-related closings, cancellations, and early dismissals. There will probably be more to come. Snow is likely to start again at 3 p.m. If you know of any event that has been postponed or canceled because of the weather, please help spread the word by posting in the comments.
- All afterschool child care programs offered at East Lyme Elementary and Middle School, including Sundowners, Sunsetters, and the Fun Club, are closing at 5 p.m. today. Parents should make arrangements to pick up their children at 5 p.m.
- All afterschool and evening activities scheduled for East Lyme Public School District have been canceled tonight. There will be no school on Friday.
- All afterschool and evening activities scheduled for Lyme-Old Lyme School District have been canceled for tonight.
- The Friendship School in Waterford is dismissing students early on Thursday.
- Lighthouse Voc-Ed Center in Niantic is closing at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
- Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut is closing at 3:00 p.m.
- The Department Of Motor Vehicles has canceled all road tests for Thursday. Anyone with a scheduled road test can call DMV to choose a new date at 800-842-8222.
The Town of Old Lyme is imposing a winter parking ban for all of Lyme Street and Ferry Road from 4pm January 3 through 4 pm January 4. Any vehicle parked on these streets will be subject to be ticketed and towed. Removing vehicles from the streets will allow the Old Lyme Public Works to effectively treat and clear snow from these town roads.
East Lyme Parking Ban
As of 6:00 pm Thursday through noon Friday, January 3, 2014 no motor vehicle shall be parked on a public street or highway in the Town of East Lyme in order to facilitate snow and ice removal. Overnight parking is allowed in all Town parking lots during this snow event.
