East Lyme High School National Honors Society
East Lyme Students get a taste of what graduation day will be like as they are inducted into the National Honors Society.
Last night's induction ceremony for the East Lyme High School Chapter of the National Honor Society was a bit like a dress rehearsal for graduation. Students lined up in caps and gowns, slightly unsure whether the zipper is supposed to be in the front or the back, and with candles in hand strode proudly in a processional march into the Auditorium.
Current members Lee Brake spoke about leadership, Kevin Liang about scholarship, Joan Li about character, and Kaitlyn Kuvalanka spoke about service and gave the final remarks.
You'll find a full list of everyone who was inducted for the fall of 2012 and spring of 2013 in the image attached. The oath, however, is a pretty good creed to live by:
"I pledge to maintain high scholastic standing/To hold as fundamental and worthy/An untarnished character,/To endeavor intelligently and courageously/To be a leader,/And to give of myself freely in service to others./In so doing, I shall prove myself worthy/Of a place in the National Honor Society."
