East Lyme Loses Out On $261K Due To Water Meter Issue
The town has been undercharging a laundromat, restaurant, and several small businesses for years, according to a report.
EAST LYME, CT — The Town of East Lyme lost $261,070 in revenue due to undercharging a laundromat, restaurant, and other businesses for nearly two decades, according to The Day of New London.
The discrepancy was revealed earlier this year following a water meter reading for a building at 135 Boston Post Road.
The single meter covers several businesses and was incorrectly programmed in 2002. The shortfall totals 4.4 million gallons of water and sewer use.
