East Lyme's Memorial Day Parade seemed to materialize out of nowhere on Monday. At 1:30 p.m. Main Street Niantic was practically deserted. By 2 p.m., the street was lined with spectators all waving flags and ready to cheer for the marching bands, National Guard humvees, and fire engines that came rolling through town.
