Life Is A Marathon, Strike Up The Band, and Don't Forget To Pay Taxes!
Five things to help you plan your day, Thursday, August 1, 2013, in East Lyme, Old Lyme, and Lyme

1. It's a lovely morning but weather.com is predicting more clouds as the day goes on. There's a 40 percent chance for rain showers later this afternoon and a 70 percent chance of rain and possibly thunderstorms this evening. The high temperature should be a seasonable 78 degrees with an overnight low of 68 degrees.
2. Today is the deadline for property taxes! Don't forget to pay if you haven't already. If you live in East Lyme, you can pay taxes online.
3. There weren't many meetings scheduled for this week in East Lyme.
The Zoning Commission meeting that would normally be held tonight is canceled this week. The Niantic River Watershed, however, will meet at 6 p.m. at East Lyme Town Hall.
4. There are two events at Lymes' Senior Center today. The first, at 10 a.m. is a presentation on how federal cuts under the sequester are likely to affect social security. The second, at 7 p.m., is a performance by Old Lyme Town Band and an ice cream social. The concert is free and open to all, and will be held rain or shine.
5. Feeling energetic or want to watch people who are? The 2013 Niantic Bay Triathlon will be held in East Lyme on August 4 beginning at 7:30 a.m. and features a 1/2 mile swim, 12-mile bike, and a 3.5 mile run. Expect traffic to be diverted for Sunday's race. For additional information about the triathlon, call Beth Shluger at (860) 652-8866 or visit: Hartford Marathon website
