Niantic Seafood Restaurant Won't Open This Season Due To Renovations

A staple of the Niantic summer food scene is under new ownership. It's expected to reopen May 2025.

EAST LYME, CT — Dad's Restaurant of Niantic will not be open this season as it is under new ownership and being renovated.

The seafood restaurant posted the following on Facebook:

"To all of our loyal patrons, we are pleased to announce that Dad's Restaurant of Niantic is under new ownership.

"We plan on undertaking a renovation and therefore will not be open this season.

"We look forward to serving you again beginning in May 2025."

The post garnered 109 reactions and 42 comments. "Best bay scallops around!" one commenter wrote. "I really hope you keep them! Our family goes several times every summer."

Another patron said they home the restaurant keeps "the charm of that place alive instead of making it modern."

Dad's is known for its oysters, clam strips, crab cake sandwiches, and onion rings.

The restaurant has been around for more than 60 years, according to WFSB 3-TV.
