Old Lyme Mother-Daughter Tennis Team Play At New Haven Open

Monique and Jenner Foster are finalists in the under 18 division of the First Niagra Family Classic, which will have them playing alongside tennis greats at the New Haven Open.

A mother and daughter doubles team from Old Lyme will have a chance to play alongside the pros at the New Haven Open on August 22. 

Monique and Jenner Foster, both members of Old Saybrook Racquet Club, advanced to the finals in the under 18 division of the First Niagra Family Classic. 

More than 150 teams of family members competed in the regional finals, of which 18 advanced to the finals. The teams were across nine divisions (Father/Child and Mother/Child 12 and Under, 14 and Under and 18 and Under age divisions; Parent/Child Open divisions for parents with children over the age of 19 or under the age of 10; and a Husband/Wife division)

Teams representing Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York advanced following the regional finals this past weekend at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale. The regional finals were comprised of more than 150 teams who won their local events in nine different states.

Monique and Jenner Foster now get to play alongside five of the world’s top 10 players at the New Haven Open at Yale presented by First Niagara, a WTA event that is part of the Emirates Airline US Open Series to be held August 16-24 at the Connecticut Tennis Center.

Winners will be recognized on Stadium Court in a presentation that evening.
