Popular East Lyme Restaurant Gets New Ownership: Report

A New London restaurateur will take over a Niantic eatery and has some changes in mind.

EAST LYME, CT — A New London restaurateur is taking the reins at Charlie's Place in Niantic, according to The Day. Rod Cornish, who runs Hot Rod Cafe in New London, said much of the Niantic restaurant will remain the same, including the name and the menu.

The biggest additions will be an outdoor deck along with the popular chicken wings served at Hot Rod Cafe. (Read the full story in The Day.)

According to Charlie's Place website, the eatery located at 26 W. Main St. was founded in 1992. It was originally called Niantic Diner and then changed to Charlie's Place.

The eatery has stellar reviews and one person wrote on social media, "Charlie’s Place is a nice family restaurant, extensive menu, very good food, friendly helpful staff and very good house wine."
