Our contractor was rained out at the end of last week so they were pushed back a few days.

They plan on starting the rubberized chip seal work TOMORROW – THURSDAY JULY 20TH. They will begin on West Society Rd near the I-95 SB Exit 73 onramp and will be going down Society Road towards the Community Center. It looks like they will most likely be rained out on Friday which would have them finishing up the other roads on Monday 7/24 and Tuesday 7/25. The list of roads and order are as follows;

7/18/23 ROADWORK::

As part of the Town’s annual pavement management plan, the Town’s Public Works Department has been preparing the following roads for improvements;

Over the last few months we have fixed and/or replaced catch basins, patched bad areas and fixed manholes and now we are looking to install an Asphalt Rubber Stress Absorbing Membrane (SAM) type surface treatment on all of these roads.

It looks like the contractor is going to be starting on next Tuesday July 18th. They will be going in the order as listed above so they will start on West Society Rd near Harvest Glen and will finish on Roxbury Rd near Rt 161. The work should take between 2-3 days so please expect some delays on these days. One of the primary benefits of this system is that it can be swept up that day, so it doesn’t leave lingering issues of regular chip seals and shouldn’t affect the interface with resident’s driveways. IF you have any questions on this work, feel free to reach out to us at publicworks@eltownhall.com.
