Shoreline Leo Club Distributes Thousands To Area Organizations

The student-led club elected officers and distributed funds to organizations recently.

EAST LYME, CT — The Shoreline Leo Club at ELHS installed their Leo Officer Team for 2024-2025 at a recent meeting and distributed thousands of dollars in money to the community that they raised themselves through fundraising events.

Elected new Officers are: President: Aiden Minogue; Co-Secretaries: Eric Yang & Sophia VanDerMaelen; Treasurer: Ian Liu; VPs: Jun Huh, Joshua Payne, and Yilan “Candy” Xu; Lion Tamer: Gwyneth Minogue; and Tail-Twisters: Vrithikka Boopathy, Shreyal Bhagwat, Jessica Joe, and Sophia Joe.

2023-2024 Leo President Avni Kabra presented local charities with checks from Leo fundraising activities to the Shoreline Soup Kitchen’s East Lyme Pantry $200, and Samuel Smith Farmstead $200. Also, Care and Share of EL received a 2nd Leos check for $500, after receiving over $8,000 in total event donations from the Leo Club’s November 2023 community fundraiser for Care and Share. Care & Share’s President Debbie Delorimiere thanked both the Shoreline Leos and Niantic Lions for their strong support.

Also presented were $ 1,100 to Lions Club Charities, Lions Club International Foundation-Disaster Relief, CT Lions Eye Research Foundation, Lions Low Vision of ECT; Fidelco Guide Dog program; and a 2nd check for District 23C Camp Rising Sun which made the total to the camp benefiting kids with cancer to $1,050.
