If you've got paper, Lyme-Old Lyme High School wants it. On June 1, students are holding a "Shred It" fundraiser. The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon at the LOL High School in Old Lyme.
These events have proven to be remarkably popular. A recent FREE Community ID Shred held in East Lyme was so successful that organizers decided to do it again on September 28.
East Lyme's event was sponsored by the Commission on Aging and ELPBA, which reports that the truck was full to capacity before the event ended. There was so much paper, in fact, that the company had to return on Monday to shred an additional 13 recyclable containers full of paper. (Don't worry, all the material was locked up in a secure area until it could be shredded.)
Although the shredding was free, the groups did ask for donations for East Lyme Care & Share or ELPBA. More than 20 cartons of food were collected, along with cash donations. Contact Elymepba@yahoo.com for more info.
