The Weather: We're Going To Need A Bigger Boat

For the second time in four days, the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for New London County.
A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts, the weather service says. "You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

"With the approach of a warm front Monday, widespread moderate to heavy rainfall is expected at times through tonight. With the area just having experienced heavy rainfall and flooding Friday into Saturday, rainfall of 1 1/2 to 2 inches Monday could result in flooding of small streams and rivers along with urban and poor drainage flooding."
Last Friday the region received between 2 and 4 inches of rain, and low-lying areas and roadways saw isolated flooding.

- Monday night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 61. East wind 9 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
- Tuesday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before noon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 78. Southwest wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
- Tuesday Night: Cloudy, with a low around 60. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
- Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. West wind 15 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
- Wednesday Night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
- Thursday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 71. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
- Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. Chance of precipitation 40%
- Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 72.
