Thieves Break In Through Open Windows in Old Lyme

Burglary on Shore Road

On July 27, a thief or thieves entered a home on Shore Road in Old Lyme through a kitchen window sometime between 4 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. Police say the perpetrator entered the master bedroom and took 12 gold chains, including one v-shaped with diamonds, one with an aquamarine stone, and two with lockets.

Also missing are five gold rings (one with an aquamarine stone, one with an opal); a bracelet with an aquamarine stone; and three pairs of earrings (aquamarine, opal, and plain gold). The perpetrator also made off with $20-worth of bicentennial quarters; $20-worth of silver half dollars, $20-worth of wheat pennies, and additional jewelry, then left through the kitchen door.  

Burglary on Mile Creek Road

Police are also investigating a burglary that occurred sometimes between 12 p.m. on July 28 and 5:45 p.m. on July 29 on Mile Creek Road in Old Lyme.

Police believe the thief or thieves entered the home through an open rear window and took about $200 worth of costume jewelry and about $20 in quarters. Anyone with any information should please call Old Lyme Police Department. 

Arrest Reports

Jeffrey Dunlop, 25, of 66 Christopher Drive, Westfield, Mass., and Michael Boutin, 25, of 778 Page Boulevard, Springfield, Mass. were both arrested on July 27 and charged with breach of peace following a bar fight that broke out at The Pavilion on Swan Avenue in Old Lyme. 

Jessica Ellen Bourque, 31, of 4 Whipporwill Road in Old Lyme was arrested on July 28, 2013, and charged with speeding (over 70mph on 1-95 south in Old Lyme) and with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
