Hat and Mitten Drive at Birch Grove, TIS

The Tolland Junior Women encourage you to participate in the “Hat and Mitten Drive” going on during the entire month of December at both Birch Grove Primary School and Tolland Intermediate School. There are collections boxes in the TIS office and in the Birch Grove lobby to collect the following items: Winter hats, mittens, scarves, socks, and slippers. If you are interested in participating in this collection, please send any of the aforementioned items to school with your child. We request that the donated items be new or in excellent condition; socks and slippers must be new.

The collected items will be donated to From the Heart, a local charity that works with the Department of Children and Families (DCF), Dare Family Services and individual families who are in need. We will also share some of the items with the nurse’s office at each school. Many children will be much warmer this winter because of your thoughtfulness! 

There is a separate collection box for each grade, and the grade at each school that collects the most items will earn a Pajama Day! Winning grade to be announced after school break. Thank you.
